Somewhere in my childhood, I stumbled upon a piece of writing somewhere that told me that a dream is 12 seconds long - don’t quote me on the number but my brain chose to live by this fact.

In trying to narrate a story through these pieces, I went no further than the thing that currently fuels me, my dreams. What new world could I dream of or fantasize about … in 12 seconds?

and in my 12 second fantasy, that’s how the pieces came about. It’s this wild, ideal world where black women exist within the realms of youth, joy and freedom. A dream of luxury, and thrill, and self pleasure, and indulgence, and _______ ?

The last piece, ‘Thank you for listening: life is but a dream’, is my closing to this: Thank you for listening.

The pieces are available for purchase via bubblegum shop.

A very big thank you to bubblegum gallery for the opportunity that led to these pieces, I am eternally grateful for that. The final offering, courtesy of them:
