Triumph is subjective to everyone’s personal journey. My triumph regards my personal feat of conquering my internal struggles. It regards, more than anything, detaching myself from the notion that my inferior complex defines who I am. These artworks aim to highlight the beauty within the physical characteristics humanity has used as a tool for discrimination and prejudice. Depicting a black woman in a divine manner, boldly claiming her blackness, her body, her hair and her womanhood - the critic has no liberty to devalue the black woman. The background fulfills the divinity representing life, rebirth, sexuality and femininity and furthermore highlighting the overall splendour thereof. These artworks serve as a beautiful reminder to a pessimistic society that beauty is subjective, raw and authentic. They serve too as a reminder to the viewer to isolate inferiority and their ideas thereof with their mind. There is no room for beauty within the centre.
