“There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you – who areyou to judge your neighbour.”

Insular members of the church have taken their opinions and created them into “moral” standards on themes of gender. These standards are based mostly on specific verses in the bible, and not the bible collectively as a whole. The creation of these standards is responsible for the destruction of individuality and expression – particularly concerning gender. Noted in the descending yarn, this is the visual depiction of the continual destruction of individuality and expressing in the LGBTQ+ community. Simultaneously these standards are responsible for ostracizing diverse groups of people from the church. Furthermore, this destruction is responsible for society’s creation of social issues such as gender identity and feminism – without the oppression of any voices, there would not be any issues. Similarly, needlework is a medium that carries a lot of burdens; it has been dismissed as a “traditional” and “girly” craft rather than an art form. Parallel to the fighting members of the LGBTQ+ and feminist community, it is fighting for its own right to be accepted.
