amputation, gruesome imagery that leaves nothing but missing limbs for the amputee is the metaphor used in these artworks to analyse the very idealised relationship between non-black bodies and black culture. cultural appropriation is more than theft, in a time where black voices and black bodies are demoralised by a culture that has narrated a black story as one that leans into objectification in its most violent form. cultural appropriation leaves nothing for black bodies. it silences, overlooks and criticises the very essence of black culture on black bodies. essentially, patrons of cultural appropriation devalue black bodies to mere objects susceptible to theft.
